His Grandmother Cocoa Cake Pastries

Never Fail Pound Cake

Ingredients & Directions


2 Sticks butter or margarine
6 Eggs
3 c Flour
1/4 ts Baking powder
1 ts Lemon juice
1/2 c Crisco shortening
3 c Sugar
1/4 ts Salt
1 c Milk
1 ts Vanilla

Grease one large tube pan. Cream together butter & shortening, add eggs one
at a time, beating well. Add sugar a little at a time until all is added.
Sift flour, salt & baking powder & alternate adding mixture & milk to the
creamed mixture until all is added. Add vanilla & lemon juice & beat well.
Turn oven on to 350 & put cake in immediately–no preheating necessary.
Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Remember, ovens vary–check after 1 hour.
