Egg And Butter Bread

Ingredients & Directions


2 pk Dry yeast 1 tb Salt
1/2 c Warm water 3 Eggs; slightly beaten
1 1/2 c Scalded milk 7 1/2 c Sifted flour
1/2 c Sugar 1 Egg yolk
1/2 c Butter or margarine Sesame seeds

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine all remaining ingredients
except flour, egg yolk and sesame seeds. Mix wel, add yeast. Stir
in 3 cups flour. Add remaining flour a little at a time; knead until
smooth. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk.
Punch down and let rest 30 minutes. Divide into 9 strips; braid into
3 loaves. Let rise 1 hour. Beat egg yolk and 2 tablespoons water
together; brush carefully over bread. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 425 degrees.
